The purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore what emerging educational technologies community college faculty use and how they implement technology strategies based on lessons learned from a professional development program. The theoretical foundation of this study was experiential learning, self-determination, and self-efficacy. The research questions were: What are faculty reflections on lessons learned in an Academy for Faculty Instructional Technology Training in the community college setting? What emerging educational technologies are community college faculty using as a result of participating in an Academy for Faculty Instructional Technology Training? And, how do faculty describe their decision-making process for implementing technology strategies in the community college classroom? This study used a qualitative methodology and case-study design focused on presenting an in-depth description of faculty perceptions from a Southern California community college. Using three sources of data, data analysis included descriptive findings and thematic analysis. Important findings of this study support faculty perceptions that technology enhances teaching and reasons why professional development had positive outcomes. The top 10 technologies used by faculty are summarized for the reader. Finally, observation of student engagement, expression, and success, feelings of motivation, perceived effectiveness as an educator, and challenges faced when using technology on their campus was part of faculty's decision-making process for implementing technology strategies in the community college classroom.
