This study assessed the impact of an individualized learning technology, eSpark, on individual student growth on NWEA's Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. This study also determined the instructional strategies that generate the most student growth and least student growth when paired with eSpark. Six school districts in Southwestern Pennsylvania were identified as schools who assess student growth through the use of NWEA/MAP assessments. Of these six schools, three of them also use an individualized learning tool, eSpark. ESpark is a technology tool that customizes a student's learning pathway based off of their diagnostic data on the NWEA/MAP assessment. The study found that the use of eSpark when paired with the NWEA/MAP assessments showed statistically significant results as it pertains to overall student growth compared to schools who are not implementing an individualized learning technology. This study also identified instructional strategies that are being used with higher rates of frequency in classrooms with high growth as well as strategies being used with higher rates of frequency in classrooms with low growth.
