This research focused on video collaboration usage among virtual team members. The problem examined in the research was that some virtual teams lack video collaboration strategies needed to improve virtual team performance. The research is designed as an exploratory case study. The researcher studied a company with a large campus environment in North Carolina. A population of 7000 people work on that campus. A conceptual framework relying on media richness theory and media synchronicity theory was used by the researcher. Participants gave semistructured interviews for this research. The researcher identified themes using manual coding and computer-aided analysis software. Body language was a major theme that was identified, including facial expressions, standing up, and reducing ambiguity. Participants described travel reduction as a recurring theme. Business relationships were enhanced or maintained by using video, especially trust. Conversations with executives and management were identified as prime candidates for video collaboration. Communication aspects of video was a major theme of the research, covering accountability and paying attention, flexibility and naturalness, and silence. Specific applications of video collaboration were identified as themes, including informal group meetings, telemedicine, telepresence, and training. Coronavirus COVID-19 was a theme of the research, describing the importance of video collaboration during a pandemic.
