What should TwinWest Chamber of Commerce include in its young professionals program to make it a success? TwinWest works with over 700 businesses in the west metro of the Twin Cities. They work to advocate for businesses, inspire communities and invest in people. Their next goal is to develop a Young Professionals Program for members under 40 years of age. The purpose of this research was to identify unmet needs of young professionals and possible program ideas. Research was completed by leading two World Cafe sessions and a literature review, where researchers found common themes in the needs of young professionals and possible events for the program. World Cafes are structured brainstorming sessions used to gather various opinions and ideas from participants. The literature review focused on characteristics of Gen Z and Millennials, benefits of young professional programs, advice for starting programs, event ideas and communication plans. The World Cafes found themes including: career and professional development, networking, virtual events and event logistics. The findings of the research were summarized into a six-month plan for TwinWest and overall recommendations to follow for program development.
