The purpose of the research was the examination of the correlation between attachment theory and the information technology manager's decision to hire. The problem identified was the hiring of unqualified individuals into key information technology roles. This quantitative research study was based on attachment theory and adult attachment theory. Hiring unqualified individuals into key roles presents many problems for the organization such as misconfigurations of information systems. The chosen methodology for this study was quantitative correlational. The data collection took place using a survey that used a Likert scale. The questions were formulated to use an instrument developed in a previous study. The data collection targeted all genders that were or are in the role of information technology manager. These individuals were required to have the ability to hire and fire candidates. The null hypothesis for all three hypotheses was not rejected. The analysis results showed that the subjects who participated in this study aligned with the secure model of attachment during the hiring decision. The analysis of the study found no insecure models of attachment affecting the decision to hire based on anything other than qualifications or fit for duty. Recommendations for future research are as follows. The first recommendation is in person, qualitative interviews to allow the researcher to see facial expressions and queues for further questioning. The next recommendation is the analysis of multiple predictor variables against the single criterion variable.
