An exploratory factor analysis (N = 146) revealed 3 salient factors: multicultural intervention, multicultural counseling session management, and multicultural assessment. A Mann-Whitney U test yielded a statistically significant difference between White and non-White participants in multicultural intervention. Descriptive statistics indicated that in general, White participants perceived themselves to be less competent working with Black clients than non-White participants. The purpose of this research was to examine the self-identified cultural competence of White counselors and minority counselors working with Black clients.
