This study examines the travel behavior of people after the occurrence of a natural disaster and focuses on the effects of perceived risks and information resources on people's intention to visit a destination after a natural disaster occurred. Our data was extracted from the South Atlantic Coast Visitor Survey, which was collected 2 weeks after Hurricane Matthew in 2016, and provided us an opportunity to analyze consumer post-disaster behavior. The study found that people's visitation intentions were related to the preference of price discounts, perceived risks, information resources, and demographic factors. The result demonstrated that it is very important for the tourism industry and destination marketing organizations to create messaging strategies by targeting different resources channels and decrease tourists' perceived risks to increase people's intention to visit. This study also gives a better understanding of the importance of risk perception, informative resources and visitor characteristics regarding a destination's recovery process.
