A quantitative research method was employed to assess how fidelity to the Beske and Seuring sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) model predicted profitability. The lack of generally accepted SSCM model remains one of the most pressing issues in supply chain management today. While the selected SSCM model was designed to guide practitioners toward SSCM implementation by demonstrating simultaneous improvements across the triple bottom line (TBL) horizons, it was not validated through empirical analysis. The present study was designed to address that void through the validation of that framework as a foundational SSCM model. Understanding that most initial model validations focus mainly on outcomes, this model validation, similarly offerd a 10,000-foot view of the proposed framework results. Drawing on the sustainable perspective of stakeholder theory, the study incorporated TBL concepts by validating the model against relevant environmental, social and governance (ESG) data. Additionally, the study extended the SSCM literature through the identification of strong relationships between the conceptualized constructs. Through multiple linear regression analysis, the research revealed six unique indicators consistent with extant research recommendations, as critical factors for SSCM implementation. The study addressed one primary research question: Does the degree of a company's fidelity to a specific sustainable supply chain management model (SSCM) impact profitability? The results of the study revealed there was no statistically significant predictive relationship between the validated Beske and Seuring model and profitability. However, the data analysis did reveal a partial validation of the model for three of the five factors. Those results offered encouraging research and practitioner possibilities regarding the viability of the three modeled constructs and utility of the ESG metrics.
