Older adult fall risk rates are increasing annually, showing the importance of research needed based in the sixty-five and older population. Although multi week exercise interventions have shown promise in decreasing the fall risks of older adults with strengthening of the lower limbs and increasing their self-perception of personal physical stability. There is not conclusive evidence that a single bout of exercise can show these same effects. There also is not significant research on if single bouts of exercise can leave and older adult at risk of fall post session. By using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test alongside the Activities Specific Balance Scale (ABC), this study put forward results of a single session of Tai Chi inspired exercise on muscle fatigue, and self-perceived balance. The purpose of this study was to establish if older adults of, or above the age of sixty-five were placed higher at fall risk post exercise using a single thirty-minute bout of Tai Chi inspired movements. There was total of nineteen participants(n=19) that completed the study and were used for data analysis. The study pretested the participants with two tests of measurement before an eight-week washout period. The TUG and ABC were given a second time following the thirty-minute Tai Chi inspired intervention. Based on the data analysis, the results found a no significance in the ABC scale measurements. A significance was found with the TUG results(p<0.05). There was found to be a decrease in time, which was an increase in the speed of movement amongst the participants post intervention. Therefore, the results of this research study suggest that a single bout of a thirty-minute exercise can safely be performed by older adults with the possibility of increasing movement speed without a change to psychological aspect of perceived balance.
