Introduction: Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) effects approximately 7% of the school aged population. Clinically, children present with a range of neuromuscular impairments and functional limitations. Purpose: To investigate the effects of the combined task-oriented and group-based treatments, on improving bilateral coordination (BC) and manual dexterity (MD) skills in children with DCD. Methods: Include all articles on 3 databases, published after 2000 in scholarly journals, that treat children, 4-12 years old with a diagnosis of DCD by DSM-5 or Movement ABC criteria, with a task-oriented group-based motor skills intervention using the MABC outcome measure. Resulting search found 5 articles. Results: The results of the MD meta-analysis showed a grand total effect size of ES= -.76, 95% CI (-.99, - .36) and BC revealed an ES= .39, 95% CI (.06 -.71), both favoring the intervention. MD studies were homogeneous. Alternatively, the BC meta-analysis was heterogeneous. Conclusion: For BC, the analysis revealed a moderate effect and a CI that did not contain zero, however the overall effects revealed heterogeneity. For MD the groups were homogeneous with the grand total effect size not containing zero. Clinical Implications: Task- oriented group-based motor skills interventions should be considered an effective treatment of children with DCD to improve MD and BC skills.
