For the purpose of this study, a survey consisting of the Connectedness to Nature (CNS) and Pro-Environmental Behavior (PEB) scales, adapted/translated from English to Vietnamese, was employed to survey farmers, fishermen, local government employees, and coastal business employees in Vinh Thanh and Vinh Xuan district, Vietnam. The survey consisted of both scales and was analyzed in an effort to determine if a relationship existed between the scores on the CNS and self-reported PEB. An additional analysis of the data also sought to better understand whether connectedness to the natural world and pro-environmental behaviors differ between these groups. The CNS measured the connection between the effectiveness of individual experience and nature, while the PEB measured the intention to reduce the negative impact that an action can have on the environment. The survey was conducted through a convenience sampling, in which participants were selected from a provided list that was used in the prior study (Emergency Responses in the Coastal Areas by Tran Doang Quoc Long). Results showed that there was no correlation between the CNS and PEB scales. There was statistical significance among the means between each of the two subgroups.
