This research was designed to examine the extent of the relationship between perceived investment in employee development (PIED) and employee turnover intentions within the aggregate mining industry. This quantitative, non-experimental correlation study utilized 103 male and female participants who work fulltime in the aggregate mining industry. Selected participants took take part in an online survey designed to measure their level of perceived investment in employee development and their turnover intentions. The questionnaire contained questions that measured the participant's feelings utilizing a seven-point Likert Scale for both the PIED and turnover intent sections. An analysis of the research findings was conducted through the utilization of two-tailed Pearson correlation analysis. The research findings indicated that there is a statistically significant relationship between PIED and associated employee's turnover intent. The value of this research study is its contributions to the literature surrounding PIED and employee turnover intentions. are significantly related human resources, practitioners may find it useful to implement measures to monitor PIED within their organizations. The results of this study support the findings of Lee and Bruvold (2003), as well as Fallon and Rice (2015) suggesting that an employees' perceived level of investment in employee development may be a predictor determining employee turnover intent. This research adds to the literature base within the human resources practice by reviewing the aggregate mining industry specifically unlike previous studies. Recommendations for future research include utilizing a greater population of employees throughout the aggregate mining industry in order to create a better understanding of PIED and turnover intent across the industry.
