The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to examine the experiences of vocational nursing faculty regarding incivility in the nursing education setting. The problem was that incivility is a phenomenon that continues to exist in nursing education, which affects all involved, including students and faculty members. Bandura's Social Learning theory served as the guiding theoretical framework for the study. The research questions were focused on the perception of incivility and the nursing educators' experience with incivility within the nursing education environment. The final purposive sample included 12 participants who are currently practicing nurse educators in a vocational nursing program. Data was collected from individual interviews using a semi-structured format. From the analysis of the data, four themes emerged. Those major themes were: (1) disrespect and rudeness were common, (2) a need for more education regarding what is perceived to be incivility, (3) the clinical setting had more incivility than the classroom, (4) a need for more open communication between various parties. The two recommendations for practice include creating an educational program for students and faculty members and to develop communication policies between nursing program and clinical partners. There were three recommendations for future research which included: (1) more research to see if there is a difference based on demographics, (2) finding the most effective educational program, and (3) a similar study using a broader audience.
