This study examined the use of lecture capture in the classroom environment in higher education. Lecture capture is technology added to the traditional classroom environment allowing professors the ability to record the class lecture. This ability of recording the class lecture allows the students to review the material at a later time. There has been limited research as to the use of lecture capture within small liberal arts colleges. Small liberal arts colleges have limited funding in which to enhance the students experience while at the school. Adding technology to the traditional classroom environments allows the students a way in which to review the lectures that they might have missed or have problems understanding the materials. Having the lecture materials in a digital format allows the students the chance to review the materials at a time that works best for them, enhancing their understanding of the materials in the course. Through the course of this research we hope to determine the student's perspective on adding lecture capture technology into the traditional classroom environment. The purpose of this qualitative research study is to identify the benefits to students of the use of lecture capture at a small liberal arts college in southern West Virginia. The participants for this research study were students that have completed classes that have been enhanced by lecture capture technology at a small liberal arts college in southern West Virginia. The researcher study found that students found the use of lecture capture technology in the classroom environment beneficial to their learning. The recommendations found from this research study showed that students in a small liberal arts college would like to see the expanded use of lecture capture technology in the classroom environment, and that instructors should receive better training in the usage of lecture capture technology.
