This study looked at the relationships between self-monitoring, the trait- and state-levels of humility, and the transformational leadership facets of idealized influence and inspirational motivation. The study was conducted through Amazon Mechanical Turk to get a general population sample from working leaders. The approved sample was 289 surveys out of 350 submitted. The results show that trait-level humility was negatively related to self-monitoring and positively related to state-level (expressed) humility. All other hypothesized relationships were not supported. Post hoc findings show that career self-efficacy and supervisory experience have positive relationships with the idealized influence and inspirational motivation facets of transformational leadership. Self-monitoring was also found to be positively related to the transformational leadership facets of idealized influence and inspirational motivation.
