In this dissertation, I study the impacts of entrepreneurship and technology to the labor market. The first chapter studies the heterogeneity in management quality. I construct a new data set on management practice adoption and task requirements of managers and workers from online vacancy posting data in the U.S. from 2012-2016. Consistent with previous literature, I document the puzzle of management practice adoption where higher adoption of management practices is generally associated with better firm performance; however, there is still substantial heterogeneity in management quality across firms. I provide an alternative explanation to this puzzle through equilibrium sorting and complementarities between management quality and workers. The second chapter, a joint work with Enghin Atalay, Sebastian Sotelo, and Daniel Tannenbaum, studies job tasks and the adoption of individual information and communication technologies (ICTs). We construct and estimate a quantitative model of worker sorting across occupations and technology adoption. Through the lens of the model, the arrival of ICTs broadly shifts workers away from routine tasks, which increases the college premium. The third chapter evaluates the equilibrium effect of one of the world's largest scale government microfinance policy, the Thailand village fund. I propose a simple credit-constraint model with lumpy investment. As farmers and entrepreneurs borrow from the village fund for investment purposes, the model predicts an increase in equilibrium wages as seen in the data.
