This study shows through the application of comparative literature, the relationship between the two texts: La Edad de Oro (1899) and El ideal de la humanidad (1811). Jose Marti (1853-1895), a Cuban intellectual resident of New York, dedicated his book La Edad de Oro to the children of the Americas. Karl Christian Friedrich Krause (1781-1832), a German Philosopher wrote his text El ideal de la humanidad expressing his essential philosophical ideas known as Krausism. His doctrine belong to the Classical German Philosophy of the XIX Century, This study applies Krausism as the fundamental ideology to analyze La Edad de Oro. The book El ideal de la humanidad influenced Marti's revolutionary and liberal thoughts and ideas. This philosophical doctrine had repercussions in Belgium and Spain, and arrived in the Americas via Spanish Empire in the late XIX Century. The concepts ethics and aesthetics had a large impact in Marti most importantly in regards to liberty, justice and equality. With respect to aesthetics, Marti following Krausism became a precursor in Hispanic Modernism. This study concludes that Krausism should be included in contemporary studies. It is notable that it has not been until recently that Krausism's influence has begun to be studied in the areas of literary, anthropological, identity and others interdisciplinary studies outside Spain.
