This qualitative descriptive study explored how golf coaches impact the self-efficacy of golf learners to enhance their performance. Self-efficacy and cognitive appraisal theories were used to underpin this study. Additionally, the personal success model was implemented for practical coaching purposes. This study asked three questions: how do golf coaches impact a golf learners self-efficacy, how are golf coaches using self-efficacy to enhance golf performance, and how do golf coaches' self-efficacy affect their teaching style. This study purposefully selected Class A PGA Professionals from the Rocky Mountain Section of the PGA. The protocol developed for this study included semistructured interviews, an individual questionnaire, and documentation. Index coding was used to analyze the data into patterns. Pattern matching was used to categorize data into themes. The themes that emerged from the data are (a) fundamentals, (b) impact of golf coaches, (c) psychological concepts, (d) self-belief, and (e) qualities of a golf coach. These themes justify that golf coaches are impacting the self-efficacy of a golf learner through their ability to be confident. The impact can be positive or negative. Additionally, golf coaches must have a sense of self-belief in their coaching ability if their learner is to improve their performance.
