The current study provides a systematic evaluation of a fatherhood intervention created by the Center on Fathering (CoF) in order to fill research gaps. The three research questions were as follows: What is the difference between Adult-Adolescent Parenting Inventory-Second Edition (AAPI-2) scores for participants who participated in the Fathering Class and those who did not participate? What is the difference between pre- and postintervention AAPI-2 scores? and How do participant AAPI-2 scores change over time? The sample consisted of 77 individuals, a majority of whom were White (75.32%), employed full time (66.23%), and had an average age of 37.87 years. A quasiexperimental research design examined participant parenting attitudes using the self-report AAPI-2 assessment. AAPI-2 scores were examined at different phases of the intervention. In addition to analyzing pre- and postintervention data, the current research aimed to study longitudinal results and incorporate a control group. Results indicated that participant parenting attitudes became significantly more positive, as measured by the AAPI-2, after successfully completing the fatherhood program, Pillai's trace = .38, F(5,72) = 8.91, p < .001, partial η2 = .38. Significant increases in all five AAPI-2 parenting attitude domains were observed. Analysis of control group data could not be conducted because participants spent very limited time on the waitlist. Follow-up responses were limited and can only be viewed as a preliminary exploratory study. The difficulties with data collection and analysis appear to be common barriers to fatherhood program evaluation, and recommendations for alternative analysis methods are suggested.
