Historically, kinky sexualities and sexual behaviors have been understood as pathological or perverse. Such misunderstandings and misrepresentations have contributed to the development and perpetuation of kink stigma. The aim of this retrospective, cross-sectional, correlational research study was to explore the potential relationship(s) between pathology, personality, and kinky sexual behaviors/roles in adulthood. Guided by queer-feminist theory, the research questions addressed whether personality traits, experiences of childhood trauma, or a combination thereof, were predictors for kinky behaviors/roles in adulthood. A multi measure, anonymous, and confidential survey was distributed online including the Childhood Traumatic Events Scale as a childhood trauma questionnaire, the Mini-IPIP, and the sadomasochism checklist. Multiple regression analyses were used, and the results showed that experiences of childhood trauma, personality characteristics, or the combination of both were not significant predictors for kinky sexual behaviors in adulthood. Among the sample surveyed, there were no significant relationships found between the variables to provide sufficient evidence to support the negative perceptions and stigmatization of the kinky population. These findings contribute to social change by better informing deficiencies in the historical pathology-based and personality-based academic literature on kinky sexualities. Additionally, the findings of the present study provide others with an increased awareness and understanding of the kink community and lifestyles which benefits evolving society and psychological professionals, scholars, and the kink community.

520 $a Historiquement, les sexualites perverses et les comportements sexuels ont ete compris comme pathologiques ou pervers. De tels malentendus et fausses representations ont contribue au developpement et a la perpetuation de la stigmatisation par kink. Le but de cette etude de recherche retrospective, transversale et correlationnelle etait d'explorer les relations potentielles entre la pathologie, la personnalite et les comportements / roles sexuels pervers a l'age adulte. Guidee par la theorie queer-feministe, les questions de recherche ont porte sur la question de savoir si les traits de personnalite, les experiences de traumatisme de l'enfance ou une combinaison de ces facteurs etaient des predicteurs de comportements / roles crepus a l'age adulte. Un sondage multi-mesures, anonyme et confidentiel a ete diffuse en ligne, notamment l'Echelle de traumatismes de l'enfance en tant que questionnaire sur les traumatismes de l'enfance, le mini-IPIP et la liste de controle du sadomasochisme. Des analyses de regression multiple ont ete utilisees et les resultats ont montre que les experiences de traumatisme durant l'enfance, les caracteristiques de la personnalite ou la combinaison des deux n'etaient pas des predicteurs significatifs de comportements sexuels pervers a l'age adulte. Parmi l'echantillon de l'enquete, aucune relation significative n'a ete constatee entre les variables afin de fournir des preuves suffisantes a l'appui des perceptions negatives et de la stigmatisation de la population crepue. Ces resultats contribuent au changement social en informant mieux les carences de la litterature universitaire sur la sexualite perverse basee sur la pathologie historique et la personnalite. En outre, les resultats de la presente etude fournissent aux autres utilisateurs une conscience et une comprehension accrues de la communaute et des modes de vie kink, qui beneficient a la societe en evolution, aux professionnels de la psychologie, aux chercheurs et a la communaute kink.
