The purpose of this study was to review two reading remediation programs implemented at a vocational technical high school and to assess each program for efficacy. One program was the Scholastic Read 180 program, which was implemented as prescribed. The second program used the online module of the Scholastic Read 180 program embedded into the district curriculum. This study examined student Lexile measures, student DCAS scores, and student academic performance in English 9 and English 10 to determine the extent to which each program supported student improvement. The results of the study indicate that students in the prescribed implementation of the Read 180 program showed more growth in Lexile and DCAS scores. However, students in the modified program showed more growth in academic performance in English 9 and English 10. The results support Read 180 as a means of viable reading remediation for the case study high school.
