This study explores an existing data set to identify any differences between coping strategies of first-year student athletes and non-student athletes, as well as to evaluate any differences between the coping strategies of male and female first-year college students. In addition, the study evaluated if any differences exist related to gender within the student athlete population. MANCOVAs were the statistical method utilized within the study. In addition, a MANCOVA was utilized to study the differences in coping strategies when gender and athlete status were covariates.
