Within the fields of Writing Studies and Rhetoric and Composition, we still have work to do to understand the choices, roles, and moves that individuals make while writing on social media - an environment fueled by the smallest of decisions with the potentially largest of implications. The social media space Twitter presents the most interesting look at rhetorical performances, as individuals utilize the text-based platform to create online performances of themselves as writers in an intricately-connected digital community. This project thus seeks to analyze and comprehend performative roles enacted on Twitter by a select group of participant users, and relate these roles within the context of an evolving understanding of Writing Studies and Rhetorical Studies.
