Methods: A descriptive qualitative design, including semi-structured interviews of 14 participants (6 male; 8 female) was used. Interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis. Lent, Brown, and Hackett's (1994) Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) informed data analysis and data interpretation.

Findings: Three themes emerged: (1) Getting to know the new me; (2) Navigating support systems; and (3) Taking control of my experience.

Conclusion: These findings suggest further investigation is needed to understand the varying levels of support that are involved during their transition, future supports needed, and how to acquire and maintain a strong identity.
