Simple random sampling technique was used to select 31 schools (20% of 158) out of all the public primary schools in Moro Local Government Area. 465 pupils and their parents were selected for the study. Three research instruments were employed in this study; Questionnaire on Parents' Socio-economic Status (QPSS) and Pre-school Education Interview Schedule (PEIS) were employed in this study while an average of Pupils Academic Performance Records for three terms were collected from the sample schools to assess the performance of the pupils. The instruments were both face and content validated by the researcher's supervisors and lecturers in the department of Early Childhood and Primary Education, Kwara State University. Test-retest method was used to determine the reliability of the instruments, Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to obtain reliability coefficient 0.86 for the questionnaire and 0.78 for the interview schedule. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The demographic data of the participants were analyzed using frequency counts and percentage while the formulated research hypotheses were tested using inferential statistics of independent sample t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Hypotheses were all tested at 0.05 level of significance.

It was concluded that preschool and parent's socio-economic status have great influence on the academic performance of primary two pupils in Moro Local Government of Kwara State and that gender has no influence on their academic performance. It was therefore recommended that parents should enroll their children in preschool education centers and both male and female should be given equal opportunity to attend preschool.
