Thesis (D.H.Ed.)--A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, 2018.
The purpose of this study was to develop and implement a 4-week print and social media campaign to promote physical activity among college students by increasing knowledge of the importance of physical activity and opportunities for physical activity. This study used a pre-questionnaire/post-questionnaire participant matching design to determine if participant behavior changed as a result of the study. The 4-week intervention included regular posts to a campaign specific Facebook and Twitter account (HealthyEagle) as well as the display of two posters. The 4-week campaign resulted in a significant difference in participation in sports from the completion of the pre-questionnaire to the post-questionnaire. Results demonstrated a non-significant difference among the other types of physical activity assessed (cardiovascular activity, strengthening exercises, and stretching exercises). There was also a non-significant relationship between the participation of males and females from the completion of the pre-questionnaire to the post-questionnaire.
