The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to examine the effectiveness of Pennsylvania's mandatory concussion education program for its high school and middle school football coaches. The 15 participants were all middle school and high school football coaches from a school district in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. This quantitative research utilized a comparative design, with a matched-pairs t-test and 95% confidence interval, to investigate the short-term effectiveness of the program. The results of this significance test were statistically significant at the specified .05 level, with t(14) = 3.17, p = .0068, 95% CI [1.12, 5.81]. The long-term effectiveness of the program was investigated through two repeated measures ANOVA tests and Tukey range post-hoc tests. The first ANOVA test examined the effect of the years of concussion education on the pre-test/post-test relationship. This test was significant at the specified .05 level, with F(2, 42) = 756.94, p < .001. However, the Tukey post-hoc tests revealed that the years of education did not have an impact on the pre-test/post-test relationship. The second ANOVA test examined the effect of the years of coaching experience on the pre-test/post-test relationship. The results of this significance test were statistically significant at the specified .05 level, with F(2, 42) = 284.88, p < .001. However, the Tukey post-hoc tests revealed that the years of coaching experience did not have an impact on the pre-test/post-test relationship. The results suggested that the program did display short-term effectiveness, but did not display long-term effectiveness. Future researchers might examine the short-term effectiveness of the program in more detail by performing the matched-pairs t-test and confidence interval with a control group. Future researchers might examine the long-term effectiveness of the program in more detail by performing a repeated measures ANOVA where the concussion survey is taken at several points throughout the year.
