Because the church may prove to be an ideal venue for health education. an exploration of faith-based curricula is becoming a popular alternative to the mainstream approach. This study specifically focused on how faith leaders can help ensure successful health and fitness programming within their faith community by offering support to their wellness instructors. The goal of this research was to examine the church health and fitness instructors' attitudes and perceptions of perceived negative and positive characteristics of their faith leader as it relates to the support of their health programs. This study utilized the database of Christian Aerobic Resource. A sample of 239 ( n=239) participants was randomly selected and a response rate of 31% was achieved. Using an original instrument and participant agreement between statements, participants identified areas of importance related to support of the faith leader. Responses were collected from 75 respondents for a response rate of 30%. Participant levels of agreement were analyzed using bivariate correlation between statements related to perception of the faith leaders' support. Participants identified two statements demonstrating strong correlation: "My faith leader has personally recommended my fitness ministry to someone" (.669). and "I feel my faith leader supports me in fitness ministry" (.669). Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that faith leaders and fitness ministry instructors investigate possible collaboration regarding professional growth and development, establishing strong relationships, and providing educational opportunities for faith leaders to establish themselves as supporters of the faith-based exercise program.
