This study sort to investigate the relationship between FDI and IPR in selected countries. This study conducts a literature review of studies that sought to discuss the relationship between FDI and IPR in a bid to formulate a testable hypothesis and conceptual framework. The countries were grouped in 4 economic classes of low income, high income, lower middle income, upper middle income, and low income economies. Data ranging from 2002 to 2015 were extracted on variables of Voice and Accountability, Political Stability and Absence of Violence, Government Effectiveness, Regulatory Quality, Rule of Law, GDP % annual growth, FDI, and Control of Corruption. A regression analysis was conducted to establish the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variables in the four income classes. An analysis of the findings is the conducted by identifying the variables that are positively or negatively related. The study findings indicate that FDI for different nation groups is impacted differently by IPR. More specifically, different IPR variables impact FDI differently in different income nation groups. Also, different variables are differently sensitive in different income group nations. The study suggests that it is important to implement custom made IPR polices according to the income level of a nation.
