Thesis (M.S.)--Utica College, 2017.
The purpose of this capstone is to demonstrate the complexity that health care is facing when transitioning from Fee-For-Service (FFS) to Value-Based Care (VBC). The rising costs of health care and no end in sight has many people concerned they will not be able to afford health care in the future. This aspect of cost and efficiency demonstrates the importance of quality over quantity in this VBC model. The findings revealed in this capstone demonstrate a progressive but infantile stage of the VBC process. This model's components are complex and interoperable when demonstrating the overall outcomes of patients in an entire episode of care. The conclusion of this capstone is that administrators in organizations that are transitioning from FFS to VBC face many challenges, not only financial but cultural as healthcare culture must change to better serve the population.
