Thesis (M.A.)--The George Washington University, 2016.
The following is a proposal for an exhibition on high heeled shoes for the Hillwood Estate, Museum, & Gardens in Washington, D.C. Examining heels as primary sources documenting history offers a view of the effects of major events (focusing on Social Justice Movements, Wars, and Economic Recessions) on people's' lives. This exhibition explores the relationship between period-styled historic house museums and their temporary exhibitions and how less traditional choices can assist in attracting visitors and standing out in a saturated field. As one of almost 30 historic site museums found among D.C.'s approximately 80 museums, a non-traditional exhibition can be a necessary attraction.
