Leadership is an important element to all organizations. The topic of leadership continues to be explored, especially, the concept of effective leadership. The relationship between supervisor leadership effectiveness, tenure, employee job level, and intention to leave current agency or organization was examined in this study. A quantitative methodology was used to examine supervisor leadership effectiveness through the perception of supervisors' followers. This study used the 2014 survey data from the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS). For this study, the questions pertaining to leadership of the supervisor was used to capture the follower's perceptions of supervisor's leadership effectiveness. Due to the population size (392,752) of federal employees who completed the FEVS, two random samples were extracted to evaluate the research questions. Multiple regression and logistic multiple regression analyses were used to evaluate the three research questions. Although the main hypotheses showed no significant relationship for both samples, significant results were found with the variable of employee's intention to leave. This study provided a deeper examination into the leader-follower relationship through the perceptions of employees on the supervisor's leadership effectiveness. By looking at the specific variables, supervisor leadership effectiveness, employee tenure, employee job level, and employee intention to leave current agency or organization, information provided on employee's perception within the leadership relationship gives insight into effective leadership.
