It is seen that education makes differences in fertility. The higher the education is the lower the fertility. Minorities have higher fertility than the majority Han people. Fertility in urban areas is lower than that in rural areas. China has a highly centralized government. Chinese government's family planning policies have a strange impact on the fertility of the people.

The study reviews fertility trends and changes in Canada, the United States and around the world. Fertility studies in China are presented and reviewed. The study employs dummy variable regression analysis. Population is regrouped into five education groups. It is found that the higher the education level the lower the fertility. Urban women's fertility is lower than that of rural women. Han fertility is lower than that of the Zhuang minority. This study has also discovered that nine years of education (middle school) makes the greatest difference in fertility. University level of education also makes a big difference in fertility especially in rural areas. The driving force of those differences is related to the family planning policies. Westernization in China has an impact on fertility change in the country especially in the urban population. It is seen that in Guangdong province, the decrease in fertility is accompanied by an increase in the illiteracy rate. This unique situation is caused by unregulated teenage labour force participation in a rapidly developing region.
