Mobile Commerce is becoming the most popular way to make purchases and transfer funds in the world today. Users can utilize their mobile device to carry out their own business transactions such as purchases and fund transfers. By using a mobile device to complete a financial transaction, the user will have a frictionless experience never before encountered in the commerce industry. The issue is this new type of commerce is also opening up opportunities for fraud to occur against the users. With an industry and technology that are still so young, both businesses and consumers are at risk to becoming victims of fraud. As the industry continues to grow, so will the fraud associated with it if nothing is done to stop it. Users must begin to take proactive steps to understand the technology behind the industry as well as what best safeguards should be put in place to protect them. If not then criminal activity will continue to occur, damaging the industry. In addition to financial losses incurred from mobile commerce fraud, users may also fall victim to other types of fraud such as identity theft and account takeover. By providing the industry users with an explanation as to the types of mobile commerce transactions available to them as well as how the technology operates, the users will be able to better protect themselves from the types of fraud associated with the mobile commerce no matter what kind of transaction they elect to use.
