Thesis (M.S.)--Northern Kentucky University, 2016.
Although it has been a common belief that creativity is innate, it is becoming more apparent that it may actually be a characteristic one can learn. Specifically, the teaching of creativity in university settings may be a method to spark ideas and generate new innovations for the future. The current thesis examines the teaching of creativity in a classroom at a large Midwestern university. Through the analyses of the assessments within a course on a campus, the relationship between a willingness to take risks, motivation, expectations, and personality and creativity is assessed. For the current research, the classroom assessments are used as measures of creativity. However, there was little support found between hypothesized relationships between surveyed items and measures of creativity, though previous research provided differing evidence. In addition, limitations and future directions are discussed.
