The objective of this ministry project is to examine the efficacy of music in helping adolescents cope with anger. It is proposed that current anger management programs available to adolescents lack the resources and creativity needed to accommodate them on a short- or long-term basis. Therefore, creative approaches addressing youth apprehension and resistance are necessary. Music has become beneficial for adolescents who use verbal language to rationalize what they cannot address emotionally.1 This ministry project develops a program and curriculum in the areas of anger management, music, and leadership/discipleship to train adolescents, whose parent's serve in the military. Research took place in Watertown, New York, among a specific population of adolescents. The project produced a curriculum, program, and video logs establishing healthy expression of emotions through music. The curriculum focused on leadership skills, character development, artistic development, self-esteem, conflict resolution, and anger management.

The data from this ministry project first is presented as a platform measuring its efficacy; then depicting various factors perpetuating anger in adolescents; and finally measuring how the music program has changed the factors. Youth program and ministry models, surveys and questionnaires were used in the development the Music Heals program and curriculum. The author found that self-confidence scored the highest and formed a response to make sure youth were developed in that area, through workshops concentrating on various topics. As a result of findings a curriculum was developed to focus on each area of development and needs of participants. Many participants grew in the area of achievement motivation and social skills, especially self-confidence. Most of all through program evaluation, each youth found a healthier ways to cope with anger and express them.
