The purpose of this study is to explore how female leaders produce and reproduce the Foucauldian threads of discourse and power at the workplace. The epistemological framework of this study is based on poststructuralist feminist theory, using Foucauldian discourse analysis as the methodology. This study deconstructs dichotomous power structures impacting female leadership discourse within the male dominated hierarchical work place. The findings indicated that everyday power and knowledge dynamics impact female leaders in constructing their identity, their communication styles and their leadership at the workplace. The findings also indicate that Foucauldian discourse analysis has practical applications in uncovering subjugated knowledges. Proposals and recommendations are suggested not only for women, but also for other diverse/subdominant groups that find themselves in a social, cultural and/or historical situation, where hegemony and everyday power/knowledge structurally interact to subjugate their diversity. It is hoped that the findings from this study may enhance the lives of working women, by providing some insights in helping to understand the marginalized cultures of working females at the workplace.
