Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is important for IT workers. Flexible work hours if not set correctly lead to work overload and burnout. Overworked employees are prone to be less productive, become sick more often as well as be dissatisfied with their job situation. Which leads the employee to change jobs more often. Without proper work-life balance, the manager will see a frequent change in the overhead. The approach taken to solve the issues included a literature review to further the understanding of best practices for work-life balance. The solution model was a result of the research and provides the framework as well as implementation path for improvements needed in the work-life balance practices. A healthy work-life balance takes care of the overall well-being of an individual, who then becomes more productive, is satisfied and eager to work. He or she will be healthier and more likely to stay on the job. The main findings include that the responsibility lies with the IT worker. However, for fully functional work-life balance he or she needs full support from the leadership of the organization. Managers should encourage the talk about work-life balance with their employees and help them assess their priorities so that the work-life balance is achieved.
