Thesis (M.S.)--Pepperdine University, 2015.
Considerable research has been done on the application and outcome of strength-based interventions and their impact on turnover, productivity, engagement and profitability (Harter, Schmidt & Hayes, 2002; Clifton & Harter, 2003; Clifton & Hodges, 2004; Hodges & Asplund, 2010). This study builds on this research and examines the impact of strength-based interventions on sense of purpose in employees of nonprofit organizations. The results show statistically significant increases in sense of purpose and positive changes in sense of meaning, sense of contribution at work, personal investment in jobs, increased sense of self and value at work. These findings contribute to the body of knowledge available on the impact of strength-based interventions. They also shed new light on the added value of these interventions as they relate to increasing employees' sense of purpose and the positive implications this has for organizational success.
