Early childhood experiences either positively or negatively influences relationships, behaviors and decisions throughout the lifespan. The development of a secure parent-child attachment is important for overall well-being; however the initial parent-child attachment may become disrupted. The current study investigated the relationship between perceived parental attachment as a function of reported loneliness and type of sex offense, violent or non-violent, in sex offenders of various ethnicities. Access of up to 200 convicted sex offenders from an archival dataset from a sex offender treatment program was utilized for the purposes of the research. The data analyzed 106 of the participants' responses from the Psychosexual Life History questionnaire data set. Results from the analysis suggest that neither perceived parental attachment as a function of reported childhood loneliness nor ethnicity influence type of sex offense or reports of loneliness.
