Thesis (M.A.)--State University of New York Empire State College, 2015.
Demographics throughout the world point to the growth of an aging population and forecast future shortfalls in the labor market. At the same time the number of people with disabilities is rising as is their rate of unemployment. At the core of this project is the design of an undergraduate course for business management students and human resources students that examines the benefits of diversifying the labor force by looking at a potential employee in terms of abilities rather than for disabilities. In addition to the course outline and specific course assignments, the project includes a reflective essay describing the process of course design, as well as a discussion of the ways in which the Americans with Disabilities Act is not intended to give an advantage to any particular group, but rather to level the playing field and provide equal opportunity for all.
