Identified and analyzed in this study is how parent involvement in their children's education relates to the parent's and the school's ability to infuse the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation. The dimensions of this question include (a) parent perceptions of the school environment regarding communication with school, (b) parent involvement in school activities, (c) relationships with teachers, and (d) the parent's role in their children's education. A major finding evident in this study is that these variables differ according to levels of parent socioeconomic status, mindset about finances, and levels of education. A query asked of the participants in this study to identify their needs that the school districts could provide to help parents maximize their children's learning.

Subjects for this study were the parents of the children in two suburban Long Island, New York, churches. One church was in an affluent neighborhood and one church was in a low-income neighborhood. The participants in the study were parents who brought their children to religion classes at church. Each prospective parent received a questionnaire while waiting for their children to finish the class. It seems noteworthy that affluent neighborhood parents stayed the entire class as requested by the director.

The low-income neighborhood parents dropped off and picked up their children. The survey revealed that parents from one neighborhood or the others showed no major economic differences. All of the surveys were combined and divided according to socio economic status, eligibility for Free and Reduced Price Lunch, and their mindset about finances.
