Printmaking is a form of fine art. It has helped document history, culture, religion, politics, and knowledge. Printmaking is a device of education and aesthetics. Cultures and societies are continually affected and encompassed by print. Printmaking may be taken for granted because it is experienced on many different levels throughout our lives. It is my goal to help you understand and appreciate printmaking. In this paper, you'll learn how printmaking has propelled social development and continues to evolve with us. Throughout history, the technology of printing has changed artistically and digitally while holding strong to its tradition of hands-on quality. Through research, practice, and observance, I have been immersed in both the fine art, and the function of printmaking. I have a great appreciation for the craftsmanship that is involved in every aspect of how to make a print. The purpose of this thesis is to share my passion for this medium, help readers understand it, and appreciate its unique qualities. Printmaking is my artistic voice, as it has been with other countless printmakers throughout history. This is a presentation of print techniques, how they have developed and evolved, and my personal exploration of the history of printmaking.
