A mathematics Saturday boot camp was created at a Title I middle school to address high stakes testing pressures, performance struggles surrounding the Georgia math curriculum, and accountability requirements. The leadership body at the school sought to evaluate the program's effectiveness. This study served as the program evaluation, and the results were revealed on a summative basis to the administration and other stakeholders. The social justice conceptual framework was the foundation upon which the study was based because assisting at-risk students was a focal point of both the framework and the boot camp program. The evaluation focused on gathering stakeholder perceptions through 6 interviews and 52 satisfaction surveys as well as comparison of pre and post scores in the mathematics testing outcomes of program participants. Interview transcripts were analyzed, and the interview data were sorted based on emergent themes. In addition, a summary and analysis of the program satisfaction surveys from students, parents, and teachers revealed pros and cons of the program. Student scores from the program assessments were examined through a paired samples t test and comparisons of central tendencies. The change in math performance was deemed insignificant. Separate analysis of the scores from the state's standardized math test showed that only 6% of participants exceeded the standards. The quantitative data coupled with stakeholders' opinions were used to inform local decision making by school officials who opted to transform the Saturday boot camp into a 5-month extended weekday program. Social change was facilitated by encouraging social justice for students in the middle school through the evaluation of and amendments to the supplemental mathematics program that promote increased test performance for disadvantaged student participants.
