(1) To explore the primary causes of this systemic failure; (2) To analyze the structural change of its economic-political system; (3) To search for an alternative theoretical framework for political violence, social stratification and the role of the State in this Stalinist system.
520 $a Hypotheses. (1) The primary causes of this systemic failure are not the changes of international, subjective, psychological, value-ideological variables, but the changes of domestic, objective, economic, and social structural variables; (2) Under the circumstances of inequality of opportunity in this Stalinist system, economic growth tends to be correlated with the increase of socio-economic and political inequality; (3) This inequality tends to be associated with the intensification of political conflict which triggered the 1989 political violence in China and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
520 $a These hypotheses are tested by. (1) An empirical analysis of the 48-day-long political violence in China in 1989; a statistical investigation of the effect of economic fluctuation on violence; a questionnaire survey of the impact of value-change on violence. (2) A historical review of structural non-conformity between the relations of production and the productive forces in Stalinist state capitalism by tracing this contradiction back to the wrong "socialist" revolutions in the wrong countries (Russia and China) at the wrong times (1917 and 1953) which voluntaristically changed the social structure and led to the structural non-conformity in both countries. (3) A detailed examination of this structural non-conformity in both economic and political relations. (4) An on-the-spot research on the origin and the formation of a new ruling class and a pyramid-shaped social structure, and on the correlation between Gini coefficient and political violence. (5) An analysis of the role of the State, and a redefinition of Marx, Weber and Lenin's concepts of class in light of the change of social structures in both societies.
