Thesis (M.S.)--D'Youville College, 2015.
The purpose of this study was to explore the range of motion of joints used during the golf swing and their influence in functional ADLs in non-professional golfers over 65. Joints were compared to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons standards (AAOS). In addition, the meaning of playing non-professional golf as an occupation was measured. How subjects take part in functional activities, and how golf increases quality of life were also assessed. A significant difference was found in 20 of the 28 joints as compared to the AAOS standards. Participants reported they did not require assistance when performing ADLs, they found golf to increase their physical function, most commonly walking, and participants had an overall QOL rating of 94.4%.
