This is an ethnographic study of the identity and culture of the Philippine aborigines, the Aeta people. The study is grounded in Filipino indigenous methods of research. Interview approaches include the following: Ginabayang Talakayan (collective indigenous discussion), Pagtatanung-Tanong (asking questions, repeatedly and informally), Pakikipagkwentuhan (storytelling), and Pakiramdam (to feel with and to feel for the other). Interviews were recorded and analyzed. Twenty Aeta people were gathered for group and individual interviews. The data analysis focused on seven primary themes: Aeta Key Belief, Aeta Rituals, Aeta Ways of Knowing, Aeta's understanding of the Works of the Gospel, Aeta Identity and Meaningful Worship for Aeta.

Grounded in Thomas Grenham's theory of interculturation, the study sought the transformative mutual conversation of the Gospel and of the Aeta culture. The findings were used in defining Filipino Christian education, and in creating an indigenous Filipino Christian education in the Philippines I named, Pamilamu-lamu: Scripture of the Indigenous, Pathway to indigenous Filipino Christian Formation. It unpacks how God has revealed amongst the Aeta people embodied from the core concept of Pamilamulamu, their key belief. Pamilamu-lamu literally means being with the earth and one with each other in different seasons of life. The research process was empowering and transformative for the research participants and their community. My partnership with those who participated in the study resulted in their awareness of a need to relearn their culture and reclaim their cultural identity, and gave them a sense of hope and empowerment that God will continue to reveal amongst and through them.
