This is an autoethnographic study of my experiences with mental illness during my post secondary education. The themes and data from my story are analyzed in light of the literature on mental illness, stigma, self-medication and mental illness and education. My study might assist others in learning about the particular issues that individuals with mental illness face and, may offer hope for those who struggle with mental illness and their loved ones. I also suggest that researchers further examine how post-secondary institutions assist those students with mental illness, and why students do or do not decide to seek the help of their institution.
