This study examines the individual and intersecting incidence of Multiple Jeopardy older African American women have endured throughout their lives. It highlights the persistent gap in current literature, which seldom identifies older African American women and their lived experiences as distinctive and meriting attention. Through the utilization of narrative inquiry as my methodological approach I sought the purposeful sample of ten African American women age 65 and older. Sampling strategies, such as theoretical and snowball sampling, further allowed for the selection of participants from different social classes and regions within the United States which served as suggestive frameworks for understanding some of the past and present-day experiences the older African American women in my study entailed. The method of establishing a comprehensive outcome consisted of proficiently gathering applicable data through the amalgamation of contextual analysis, in-depth interviews and participant observations. In doing so my study identified the invisibility, adversity and lack of personal regard older African American women have experienced due to secular and recurring incidences of multiple jeopardy.

It suggests there are both long and short-term emotional, psychological and physical consequences of enduring multiple acts of discrimination. The ultimate results of my study served as meaningful insight into the importance of society fully acknowledging older African American women as an individualized group who undergo a unique degree of challenges and hardship. Based on my participants' candid narratives, older African American women themselves will have the rare opportunity to identify with a truthful voice representing some of the factual and lived experiences they have likely encountered. Furthermore, it is intended older African American women feel properly heard and have the opportunity to reflect on my participants shared sentiments, challenges and suggested strategies as an added element of support in response to present or potential future occurrences of multiple jeopardy.
