This research will show the physical and historical reconstruction of the King's Highway, which started in the coast of Villa Rica de Vera Cruz, Mexico and passed through San Antonio, Texas. The King's highway is composed from a network of trails that the Spaniard explorers used to expand Spain's sovereignty in the new world. As a result they left an imprint of the Spanish language. In order to understand this process a historical time line will be presented and a physical map will be constructed to represent the King's Highway as it passed through San Antonio, Texas and Bexar County. Field work will be conducted to identify the markers that signal the original road and a global positioning system will be used to transfer the information into a graphical representation of the King's Highway as it existed in many phases throughout the development of San Antonio. In summation, the ultimate purpose of this research is tell the story of the development of the King's Highway and to physically create a graphical representation which will safely annotate and preserves it for future generations to study.
